New Toyama x Raden x ReFa HEART BRUSH "ReFa HEART TOYAMA."
The ReFa HEART TOYAMA will be released on December 22, 2023.
ReFa has set a new project mission, "to share the professional skills that weave Japanese traditions with the world," and as its first project, the ReFa HEART KYOTO with Kyoto's lacquer coating technology was launched in November 2023.
The second project is the "ReFa HEART TOYAMA," a combination of Toyama x Raden x ReFa HEART BRUSH.
■ What is Raden?
"Ra” means 'scroll shell' and "den" means 'to decorate.' As the name suggests, this is a technique in which the beautiful luster inside the shell is cut out and processed to decorate a lacquer or wood base. It has a long history, dating back to the Nara period, and has been applied to armors, Obi (belts), folding screens, hand mirrors, and other items to add beauty and color to the times. Our craftsmen continue to create and master their own unique techniques to meet the changing times and lifestyles of people, which is why our products are still loved by many people both in Japan and abroad.

The ReFa HEART TOYAMA uses "Takaoka Raden," a traditional craft rooted in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture. Takaoka Raden, the strong and ephemeral beauty of nature, has been refined by craftsmen to match the times. ReFa's desire to share the professional skills that truly embody the "bridging old and new" with Japan and the rest of the world has been realized through our partnership with the Takaoka Radenzaiku Studio.
By applying the elegant and gorgeous Takaoka Raden to the ReFa HEART BRUSH, we hope to make the beauty of Raden more accessible to as many people as possible.
